“What you resist, persists. What you accept, transforms.”
Background
Steve’s clinical experience has focused on adults, adolescents, couples, and group processing through a wide variety of presenting issues, including anxiety, self-doubt, negative thought patterns, avoidant behavior, depression, grief/loss, trauma, along with relationship and life adjustment issues. My practice adheres to the standards of multicultural based therapy. I have worked with, and my practice provides a safe space for, individuals identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Approach and Values
Steve is dedicated to fostering a safe and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment, where he will work with you to develop a customized treatment plan that supports living a life congruent with your stated values, and what you find meaningful. Sessions are both collaborative and integrative, geared toward helping you become more in tune with your present self through identifying behavioral and thought patterns which are working against how you ideally want to live and be in the world.
Using techniques from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy, among other modalities, Steve will facilitate a process that encourages you to become more open and accepting of your full range of thoughts and emotions, while realizing these ingrained thoughts and emotions are not a concrete part of your identity; and do not have to define who you are. Steve believes you hold the power to create a narrative and sense of identity for yourself that can spark the change you desire. Steve’s work is dedicated toward guiding you in developing your own insight toward who you want to be, and how you can transform this insight into committed action in service of your values.
